A catastrophic avalanche struck Uttarakhand’s Badrinath region, trapping over 40 workers from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). The avalanche has left the workers buried under a thick layer of snow. As of the latest updates, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has successfully rescued 32 workers, though the search for the remaining workers continues.
The avalanche occurred as the workers were constructing roads in one of the most challenging terrains in India. The sudden snowstorm overwhelmed the workers, and many were trapped before they could take shelter. With temperatures plunging to freezing levels, the situation has become dire for those still buried under the snow.
Rescue teams from the NDRF have been working tirelessly, deploying specialized equipment to search for survivors. The operation has been difficult due to the terrain’s remoteness and the constant snowfall, which has hampered visibility. However, NDRF officials remain optimistic, and additional resources are being called in to aid in the search.
The efforts of the NDRF are being supported by the Indian Army, local police, and medical teams, all working together to ensure the safety of the workers. Authorities are hopeful that the rescue operation will yield positive results, even as conditions remain challenging.
