At 5:36 AM IST on February 17, 2025, a 4.0 magnitude earthquake hit Delhi-NCR, jolting many residents awake. As the tremors reverberated across the city, residents rushed outside to safety. “I was woken up by the bed shaking. The tremors were strong and unnerving,” said Vandana Sharma, a Ghaziabad resident. “Everyone rushed out of their apartments, unsure of what would happen next.”
While the earthquake caused panic, no injuries or structural damages have been reported so far. Authorities from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) arrived on the scene to conduct preliminary assessments, reassuring the public that everything was under control.
Experts explained that the intensity of the tremors was due to the earthquake’s epicenter being located near the heart of Delhi-NCR. This location caused the quake to feel more powerful, even though the earthquake itself was moderate in magnitude.
