To ensure the smooth conduct of the Hanuman Katha event at the DDA Ground in Paschim Vihar from April 26 to April 30, 2025, the Delhi Traffic Police have announced a series of traffic diversions and closures. The event, organized by Shree Omender Saraswati Bhagwat Katha Trust, is expected to draw large crowds, prompting the need for traffic management in the area.

Overview of the Event

The Hanuman Katha event will feature spiritual discourses and cultural performances, attracting thousands of devotees. To manage the expected crowd and maintain orderly traffic, the Delhi Traffic Police have put in place the following measures:

Traffic Diversions

To manage the movement of vehicles and ensure convenience for attendees, the following routes will be diverted:

  • From Jwala Heri to Nangloi: Traffic will be redirected through Mangol Puri and Shakur Basti.
  • From Paschim Vihar to Peeragarhi: Vehicles will be diverted via Rohtak Road and Nangloi.
  • From Peeragarhi to Paschim Vihar: Commuters will have to follow the Nangloi route.

These diversions aim to prevent congestion and ensure access to the event.

Road Closures

In addition to the diversions, several roads will be closed during peak hours to help facilitate the event:

  • DDA Ground Area: The roads surrounding the DDA Ground will be closed to vehicles from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM daily.
  • Nearby Streets: Streets leading to the event venue, including parts of Paschim Vihar Main Road, will be closed during the same hours.

Motorists are urged to avoid these roads to avoid traffic delays.

Parking Arrangements

To accommodate the vehicles of attendees, designated parking zones have been set up in the area:

  • Sector 6 and Sector 7: Parking is available for four-wheelers.
  • Sector 5 and Sector 8: Parking is available for two-wheelers.

Attendees are encouraged to use these parking spaces and avoid parking on the roads to prevent blockages and ensure safety.

Public Transportation

To reduce congestion, the Delhi Traffic Police recommend using public transport:

  • Delhi Metro: The nearest metro station is Paschim Vihar East on the Blue Line. From there, attendees can take auto-rickshaws or walk to the venue.
  • DTC Buses: Several DTC buses pass through Paschim Vihar. Commuters can check the DTC website or app for updated bus routes and schedules.

Using public transport is strongly encouraged to minimize the impact of road closures and parking shortages.

Security and Safety Measures

To ensure the safety of attendees, the Delhi Police will deploy additional personnel for crowd control and security. Attendees are advised to cooperate with security checks, including bag inspections and the use of metal detectors at entry points.

If you’re traveling through or near Paschim Vihar during the event, the following advice can help you avoid disruptions:

  • Plan Your Journey: Stay updated on real-time traffic conditions before setting off.
  • Use Public Transport: Opt for the metro or buses to bypass road closures and reduce the need for parking.
