NIA Conducts Raids in Kashmir, Targets Government Employee and Former Militant in New Terror-Related Investigation

One notable raid was conducted at a residence in the Rainawari area of Srinagar, where authorities meticulously inspected documents, electronic devices, and other material potentially linked to terror networks.

Suspects and Premises Under Investigation

Officials confirmed that key locations searched included:

• The home of Ghulam Ahmad Sheikh, a former Jamaat-e-Islami leader in Bomai, Baramulla district.
• Residence of Iqbal Sheikh, a former militant, also in Bomai.
• Houses of former government employees such as Mohammad Munwar Mir in Rafiabad and Farooq Ahmad Peer in Sopore.
• Additional premises included the homes of retired teacher Mohammad Maqbool Mir in Bandipora and Zahoor-ul-Raheem in Parimpora, Srinagar.

Authorities are examining the seized materials to determine links between these individuals and larger terror operations in the region.

The raids form part of the NIA’s ongoing probe into the Kashmir Valley’s terror ecosystem, following previous actions in December and prior years.
